Why Are 3Di Sails Lighter & Stronger?
Переглядів 744Місяць тому
What if we told you sails can be both lightweight and powerful? Here's the secret: unlike traditional sails that use fillers for bulk, North Sails 3Di relies solely on the world's strongest, thinnest filaments - imagine threads lighter than hair! This "all filaments, no filler" approach eliminates unnecessary weight without sacrificing strength. This innovative construction, focused on essentia...

Ever wonder how some sails just seem to fly? The secret of 3Di sails lies in their advanced aero-optimization. Traditional sails struggle with drag, but #North3Di takes a revolutionary approach. North Sails utilizes cutting-edge computer modeling alongside custom 3D molds. This allows for the creation of a sail with a streamlined, 3D shape that minimizes drag and maximizes "drive" - the force p...

Why are 3Di sails longest-lasting?
Переглядів 755Місяць тому
Myth: All sails are created equal. Fact: 3Di sails are built differently. North Sails' zero Mylar 3Di construction method creates exceptionally durable sails that resist stretching, UV degradation, and, most importantly, delamination. 3Di sails maintain top-tier performance throughout the sail's lifespan. Introducing the Helix Moth Sail | Small Sail Packed with Big Technology
Tells the viewer nothing and deafens us all with the crappiest music. North: pretty low-market, for you.
Amazing video
The author of the video title is correct in that I have never seen Moth sailing in a series of wild disorienting gyrations.
Link to buy, pleae
Wow. 🖤🤍🖤
Too much blahbla. Also overcomplicating 1+1.
DEPTH? Are we confusing it with draft {camber)? What about angle of attack? It is first and foremost to beating.
fantastic! thank you for the detailed yet understandable explanations and graphics
"you know"
11:20 Mainsail Trim - Downwind 14:56 Genoa/Jib Trim - Lead Position
Great name Austin Powers! Danger is your Middle name.
Ricky P!
Where's Vince Brun to talk about the E22 claw?
When u downwind and suddenly strong gust. how u trim main sail. U can't turn around because this high waves. Thanks
It really was light air 🤣
The "Sail Like a Girl" logo at the end - do you sell stickers of that image?! It's fantastic
Great stuff guys! I’ll be stepping foot on a j111 tomorrow for the first time. I’ve been asked to trim headsail and kite. Thanks for the awesome information and insight! Cheers from Seattle
You KNOW when that electronic gismo fails, or when that sail jams in the boom, it will be right when the shit starts hitting the fan. No thanks! Just a suggestion, but next time maybe you could do a video on proper mainsail trim?
Agree, slab or nothing.

whats the easiest ways to pop battens that havent popped?
Grab and Abruptly pull boom windward and downwards, if you had the battens stuck already do this with the tacking. In smaller, lighter boats crew shift may do the trick.
He speaks like a winner. Like all winners speak. He had the language of winners. When he speaks, he sings. That's fantastic.
RIP Gautier my friend
He’s going down wind and release rope
dificult to hear due to windnoise, camera should detail better the effects of sail and mast
Mark room
I remember when the 24 first came out I came from dingy sailing and we had a blast years later crewed on a 35 that boat was still a rocket ship
Great video! Love Zeke the Geek!
'promosm' ✅
Hola, en el video de izada del asimétrico se ve un estrobo de unos sesenta centímetros que va desde el puño de escota hasta las escotas.¿ Podéis decirme qué función tiene?
Which moth is that?
Can i have the target speed chat for reference?
Just look random ORC certificate, anyhow it is a guesstimate for you
lol
Thank you Captain Dawson (and the whole team)
,💪♥️
far from sustainable, these are toxic nanoplastic fibers that disintegrate under sun contaminating the ocean and catched rainwater while getting into the body also through skin and breathing already a mix of hemp, flax, jute, pineaple, banana, etc fibers can be used in thin tapes to make CNC sewed tape sails with fibersim software or any open source alternative and natural adhesives more maintenance but 0 toxicity
Nuts
I thought i was the one who was confused of no code 0 footage lol. Whats the point? Removing Jib? And thats it?
also you can use twist to power (stalling the base) or depower (stalling the top=less heeling and turbulence drag) the sail top area this info is found in airplane wing twist, that is mostly used to control stall and parasitic wing tip drag
I like to work in the Sri Lanka.North Sails. In Biyagama

What type of nylon do you use, for sails N6 or N66 for taffeta fabrics ? what are the range of the fabric weight per sqm ? Thank you for this presentation. 👌
Couple of important points that were missing. For in mast furling what about spar weight. A closed tube is much stronger than an open tube so how much heavier does the spar have to be? Also on mainsails with in boom as soon as you roll any sail you no longer have an outhaul so cannot flatten the sail in stronger winds. On headsail furling they did not mention the limits. Never seen a headsail that can be reduced more than 10% without losing all effectiveness. Unless you have a multiple headsail system this leaves you stuck over a major part of the wind range particularly for sailing upwind. These systems may be good for short handed boats, particularly with families, where they need a big boat for accommodation but don't have the crew strength to run it and will only use the boat for short local trips where they can motor back to harbour if conditions deteriorate. For serious cruising particularly for offshore passages these limitations are very significant. I think this video glossed over the limitations far to much and implied that they are not significant, clawing off a lee shoe in a 30kn squall with only a furled 120% genoa you soon find out how significant they really are.
I cant believe that there are not 100's of comments Giving you A Big Thanks ...I am doing my RYA Ocean Skipper Ticket This week , your Presentation is Top Stuff !!! I havent seen a set of Better Examples~ plus so well detailed for Future reference✓✓✓ Cheers Mate👍
I love the sound engineer at North Sails. Uniformly awful.
I think backstay tension and jib twist(car position), and anything about sailing really.. is easier to learn on a boat slightly shorter than 46 feet 🙃
